As longtime sponsors of High Point Market‘s Style Spotters program, Studio Designer treasures the exciting trends, styles, and new products that these tastemakers discover at each and every market. Now celebrating a decade of design journalism excellence, we’re proud to highlight issue #3 of Style Spotters’s latest Style Stories publication. Style Spotters Kelly Collier-Clark, Kelly Finley, Rachel Mautner, Monika Nessbach, Lucy Penfield, Jana Platina Phipps, and DuVäl Reynolds found the best trends and products at both Spring and Fall markets. They share the crème de la crème of home décor and design in this issue.
Each Style Spotter explored and examined the almost 12 million square feet of the venues at High Point Market for the great products featured in the issue. Style Spotter mentors Shay Geyer and Gary Inman remarked that the Style Spotter discoveries were inspired by “bold innovation,” the color red, texture, curvilinear furniture, and the spirit of gaming and technology.
In this post, Studio Designer highlights our favorite products from each Style Spotter. To dive deeper into each tastemaker’s discoveries, read all about it in this eye-catching and informative document that you can download here.
Kelly Collier-Clark of Plot Twist Design is a fan of globally-inspired and sustainable brands like Ngala Trading, that promotes Indigenous African Design and designers like Thabisa Mjo of Mash.T Design Studio. Kelly selected Thabisa’s beautiful fluted coffee table that is made of terrazzo, an economical and sustainable material that is as hard as concrete.
Kelly Finley of Joy Street Design loves functional beauty and loves the unique and nature-influenced designs of Kenneth Cobonpue. She treasures the singular rattan dowels of Kenneth’s Chiquita Stool that recede down when sitting. Carefully engineered with soft foam, this stool fulfills Kelly’s needs for beauty and comfort.
Rachel Mautner of Rachel Mautner ID found herself drawn to alabaster and the unique way it can be used in lighting like Kelly Wearstler’s collection for the great lighting brand Visual Comfort. Her “Must be Seen” item is the Pertica Chandelier with alabaster spheres that make it a striking work of art that also emanates warm and soft lighting.
Monika Nessbach of designbar loves to pursue dreams and fantasies in her design inspirations and was particularly taken with the evolution of the “cottagecore” trend into Fairycore. She found a standout piece expressing this romantic and approachable trend with Rafael Calvo’s extraordinary Calvo Royal Dresser, hand-made with hundreds of sustainably sourced and non-toxic pieces of wood.
Lucy Penfield of Lucy Interior Design was enchanted with the work of designer Laura Kirar who created a captivating outdoor furniture collection for McGuire Furniture. Lucy is impressed with the way the collection uses acrylic cording handwoven on all pieces including the exceptional Cuerda Counter table that features engineered stone.
Jana Platina Phipps of Trim Queen, also known as Home Couture Collective, used her mastery home décor embellishments to source unique and striking pieces. She singled out the famed brand La Cividina for their great Windmill Ottomans designed by Constance Guisset that can be customized in any color for each fabric wedge. These ottomans are currently used in Paris’s Museum of Modern Art.
DuVäl Reynolds of DuVäl Design, LLC—a Studio Designer client—has always been a huge fan of Eichholtz’s reliable excellence in the luxury furniture they produce. He loves the future-forward trends of the brand and singled out the company’s great Chair Novelle. With its retro-inspired design, sumptuous velvet texture, and varied hues of red, the chair is a perfect statement piece for a great interior.
