Better Search, Bigger Catalog, and Financial Tools Worth Trusting 

Studio Designer is built to support every phase of a designer’s work, from initial sourcing to final reconciliation. The May 2026 release sharpens that end-to-end experience with upgrades to catalog discovery, financial reporting, and the tax tools your firm relies on every billing cycle. Here’s what’s new. 

Catalog & Product Discovery

Finding the right product just got considerably faster. You can now filter the catalog by primary color, automatically extracted from product imagery across 12 supported colors, so matching a product to a mood board or client palette takes seconds. Price filtering is also available from the start, meaning you can browse with a budget in mind rather than discovering something is out of range after you’ve already committed to it. 

The catalog itself keeps growing. May adds 15 more brands, including Four Hands, Ambella Home, and Hennepin Made, bringing the total to 280,000+ products from 165 industry brands, all searchable without leaving Studio Designer. 

Finance & Reporting 

Several updates make financial workflows more precise and less time-consuming. A client lookup option is now available in the office checks screen, so finding the right client while processing payments no longer requires extra steps. Purchase Orders now display a running total on the Payment tab, giving you clearer visibility into where a PO stands without digging through separate records. 

Reporting got a meaningful addition this month: a new Trial Balance by Debit/Credit report shows ending balances by account for a selected period and year, with separate Debit and Credit columns and totals that let you quickly confirm your general ledger is balanced. You can also hide zero-balance accounts to focus on the activity that actually matters. 

Automated Sales Tax

Two of the most-requested fixes this month both touch tax workflows. Items using Automated Sales Tax no longer display an alert requiring a taxable Yes or No selection when proposed or invoiced, which had been interrupting billing for a lot of firms. The Trial Balance also now correctly accounts for the most recent open year’s ending balances, even when that year hasn’t been formally closed. 

Reliability Fixes Across the Board 

Beyond the headlining updates, May includes a range of targeted fixes. Previewing invoices for Time Billing entries no longer triggers an alert error. Timer entries now retain the correct activity and client information after a reverse action. The General Ledger report correctly filters for active accounts only. The Retail field in report builder now totals accurately when quantity is greater than one. Inventory adjustment warnings fire only when they should. And purchase-side and selling-side pricing can now be adjusted independently when entering foreign cost or retail information. 

May’s release reflects a consistent focus on the places where friction tends to build up: sourcing, tax handling, financial reporting, and the small workflow interruptions that slow billing cycles down. Less time managing the platform means more time designing.
